Pitting Corrosion of Cast Aluminium Cistern
A manufacturer of aluminium toilet cisterns contacted MCA to determine the cause of sever pitting attack, which eventually led to perforation of the cisterns. Analysis showed that the pitting was caused by deposition of copper ions on the aluminium surface. The deposited copper acted as localised cathodes.
